“Is there a contract?”

“What happens to my data if I leave?”
You take a complete copy with you. Closing an account offers a full download of your records first — every table, as JSON for fidelity and CSV for the ones you'll actually open in a spreadsheet — and nothing is deleted until you've had the chance to take it.
“Do you keep anything after that?”
Invoices and tax records, for as long as the law where you trade requires — five years for SARS, longer in some countries. That obligation is yours as much as ours, which is why the copy comes first and the deletion comes after.
